Think of this juice as an upgraded orange juice. It’s sweet and light thanks to the oranges and carrots. But it also sneaks in tons of ginger, lemon and turmeric for added benefits and immunity!

Oh and before I forget, you don’t need a juicer to make this immunity juice shot. Wild right?!

Let’s get into the recipe!

Immune Boosting Juice Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to make this immune system boosting juice recipe.

  • Navel oranges: This variety juices the best and has tons of flavor
  • Carrots
  • Lemons
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric powder or fresh turmeric root
  • Celtic sea salt
  • Black pepper: This will activate the turmeric!

In terms of equipment, you’ll need a high-powered blender, I love my Vitamix, and a nut milk bag.

How to Make this Immune Boosting Juice

This juice is pretty simple to make!

Prep all of the fruits and other ingredients; this part takes the most time. Then add all of the juice ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a strainer or nut milk bag and strain. And you’ve got the best immune boosting juice shots!

But to go in depth, here’s the breakdown of how to make this juice:

  1. Begin by prepping the oranges. Wash the oranges and then start by cutting the oranges half crosswise. Set the orange face down on the cut side on the cutting board. Then cut off the skin of the orange moving around the orange in a circle. Repeat with the other half of the orange. I found that this is the easiest way to quickly remove the skin from the oranges. No need to worry about the white skin of the orange, as we’ll be straining it.
  2. Once the oranges are prepped, cut the carrots and ginger into small cubes so it’s easier on your blender.
  3. Add the oranges, carrots and ginger into a high-powered blender. Then squeeze in the juice of one lemon and sprinkle in the turmeric, salt and black pepper. Lastly, pour in the water.
  4. Turn the blender on low, slowly ramping up the speed to high. Let the juice blend for 3 minutes until smooth.
  5. Pour the juice into a super fine strainer, preferably a nut milk bag, and strain over a glass bowl. Once the juice has been strained, pour it into a glass jar and store in the fridge.
  6. The juice will keep for up to one week!

But Do I Need A Juicer

Absolutely not!

That is the beauty of this immunity juice recipe. You can blend everything up and strain it using a fine mesh sieve or nut milk bag.

I mean who needs a $500 juicer, am I right?!

That said, a nut milk bag will yield the best results as it’ll strain out ALL of the pulp. If you’re using a fine mesh sieve, I’d strain the juice two times to ensure you got all of the pulp out of the juice.

Is this Immunity Juice Actually Healthy?

What a question, of course this juice is healthy lol!

It’s packed with tons of fruits, antioxidants and nutrients that will not only boost your immune system but help your skin and digestion.

But don’t take my word for it. I’ve broken down the health benefits of each ingredient below, so keep on reading if you’re interested.

Orange health benefits

First, oranges have over 100% of the RDA of Vitamin C (yep, just one)! Your body uses Vitamin C for immune function, collagen synthesis, iron absorption and more.

Oranges are also packed with phenolic compounds, especially flavonoids.

  • Hesperidin: A citrus flavonoid and one of the main antioxidants found in oranges. It has been shown to be anti-inflammatory as well as help lower blood pressure.
  • Naringenin: Another citrus flavonoid that has been linked to tons of health benefits. Mainly it’s been connected to helping improve blood vessel function and enhancing antioxidant defenses in the body.

Carrots and their associated health benefits

Carrots are an amazing source of vitamins and carotenoids (which I’ll get into later).

Vitamins in carrots that are amazing for you:

  • Vitamin A: Beta carotene (a carotenoid found in carrots) is converted into Vitamin A in your body. Which is essential for good vision, skin elasticity and immune function.
  • Biotin: Play a super important role in fat storage (but like in a good way) and protein metabolism.
  • Vitamin K1: Is important for blood coagulation (essentially means that when you bleed, you stop bleeding and don’t lose all your blood).
  • Potassium: An important mineral for blood pressure control.

Ok, now let’s get into carotenoids!

Essentially carotenoids are powerful antioxidants and compounds that your body converts into essential vitamins.

  • Beta carotene: the main carotene in carrots which I covered above is converted into Vitamin A in your body.
  • Lutein: Another important carotene in carrots, which is usually found in yellow and orange carrots. It’s super important for eye health and vision.
  • Lycopene: A bright red antioxidant, found in red and purple carrots (not the orange ones). Lycopene has been linked with reducing risk of cancer and heart disease.

Why ginger is so good for you!

I think we all know that ginger has tons of nutritional benefits. But here’s the reason why!

Gingerol, the main compound in ginger, is responsible for the majority of these benefits. Gingerol has powerful inflammatory and antioxidants effects. Which essentially helps rid your body of free radicals (harmful cancerous cells).

Description

Introducing this 7-ingredient immunity juice made with oranges, carrots and ginger that actually tastes good.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium navel oranges
  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 hand-sized piece fresh ginger*
  • 1 medium lemon
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp Celtic sea salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups water**

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing the oranges. Once the oranges are prepped, cut the carrots and ginger into small cubes so it’s easier on your blender.
  2. Add the oranges, carrots and ginger into a high-powered blender. Then squeeze in the juice of one lemon and sprinkle in the turmeric, salt and black pepper. Lastly, pour in the water.
  3.  Turn the blender on low, slowly ramping up the speed to medium-high. Let the juice blend for 3 minutes until smooth.
  4.  Pour the juice into a fine mesh sieve, preferably a nut milk bag, and strain over a glass bowl. Once the juice has been strained, pour it into a glass jar and store in the fridge.
  5. The juice will keep for up to one week in the fridge. It might naturally thicken in the fridge, so just give it a good shake!

Notes

*I never peel the ginger in this recipe because the pulp is going to be strained out anyway. Plus, the ginger peel has minerals and vitamins that I want to incorporate into the juice. Just make sure to thoroughly wash the ginger.

**I’ve found 2 cups of water to make the perfect amount of juice that isn’t too strong or weak. However, if you like the juice less strong, you can use an additional 1/2 cup of water. If you’re feeling spicy, feel free to omit the water entirely and blend the juice on it’s own. The juice shots will be quite strong, but super flavorful!
