Description

Introducing this 7-ingredient immunity juice made with oranges, carrots and ginger that actually tastes good.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 medium navel oranges
  • 2 large carrots
  • 1 hand-sized piece fresh ginger*
  • 1 medium lemon
  • 2 tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp Celtic sea salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups water**

Instructions

  1. Begin by preparing the oranges. Wash the oranges and then start by cutting the oranges half crosswise. Set the orange face down on the cut side on the cutting board. Then cut off the skin of the orange moving around the orange in a circle. Repeat with the other half of the orange. I found that this is the easiest way to quickly remove the skin from the oranges. No need to worry about the white skin of the orange, as we’ll be straining it. Once the oranges are prepped, cut the carrots and ginger into small cubes so it’s easier on your blender.
  2. Add the oranges, carrots and ginger into a high-powered blender. Then squeeze in the juice of one lemon and sprinkle in the turmeric, salt and black pepper. Lastly, pour in the water.
  3.  Turn the blender on low, slowly ramping up the speed to medium-high. Let the juice blend for 3 minutes until smooth.
  4.  Pour the juice into a fine mesh sieve, preferably a nut milk bag, and strain over a glass bowl. Once the juice has been strained, pour it into a glass jar and store in the fridge.
  5. The juice will keep for up to one week in the fridge. It might naturally thicken in the fridge, so just give it a good shake!

Notes

*I never peel the ginger in this recipe because the pulp is going to be strained out anyway. Plus, the ginger peel has minerals and vitamins that I want to incorporate into the juice. Just make sure to thoroughly wash the ginger.

**I’ve found 2 cups of water to make the perfect amount of juice that isn’t too strong or weak. However, if you like the juice less strong, you can use an additional 1/2 cup of water. If you’re feeling spicy, feel free to omit the water entirely and blend the juice on it’s own. The juice shots will be quite strong, but super flavorful!
