Description

Spicy homemade ginger shots that cost less than the store-bought stuff and taste so much better. Better yet, you don’t need a fancy juicer to make this recipe!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 oz fresh ginger
  • 3 medium lemons, peeled
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric (feel free to use a small piece of fresh turmeric instead)
  • Pinch of black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prep the ginger and lemon. I very rarely peel the ginger, just give it a very thorough wash before using. Everything is going to get blended anyway, so it’s kind of a waste of time.
  2. Blend the shots. Add the ginger, lemons, coconut water, honey (if using), sea salt, turmeric, and black pepper into a high-speed blender. Blend on low, slowly ramping up the speed to medium-high. Blend for a total of 2 minutes.
  3. Strain and store. Place a nut milk bag or fine mesh sieve over a bowl or wide-mouth jar, and strain the ginger shots into the bowl. Pour the ginger shots into a glass jar and store it in the fridge for up to one week. And for those curious, I typically take about 1 oz per day in the morning on an empty stomach!

Notes

I love my ginger shots super spicy (it is a health shot after all). But you you prefer them on the milder side use 3 oz of fresh ginger instead of the 4 oz called for, and add in the optional 1 tbsp of honey or maple syrup.
