This sour melon spritzer is my drink of the summer!
This drink is exactly what I’d imagine would happen if sour candy was a drink. Think all the fun and flavor of sour melon candy, but with a hint of mint. It’s a combo of sweet honeydew, lime juice and zest (which both make this drink extra zesty and sour), and fresh mint.
It’s the perfect summer sipper; aka a cold drink to sip on in the afternoon to beat the summer heat.

Ingredients You’ll Need For This Sour Melon Spritzer
Consider this your grocery list!
- Honeydew: This drink heavily relies on the honeydew for both flavor and sweetness. So it’s imperative to use a super ripe honeydew (or even better, a slightly overripe melon).
- Limes: You’ll need both lime juice and zest. And no, you can’t replace the limes with lemons – limes have a very robust zesty, and citric flavor that’s essential for the “sour” component of this spritzer.
- Fresh mint: Because mint makes everything better!
The Method Behind This Sour Melon Mocktail
The beauty of this sour melon mocktail recipe is that you need just three ingredients and you can batch enough to last a few days/prep ahead of a party!
- Simply make the sour melon base by blending up all of the ingredients, and straining it through a fine mesh sieve. You can either make the spritzer immediately or save the sour melon base in the fridge to use throughout the week.
- When you’re ready to make your sour melon spritzer, simply pour 1/2 cup of the base in a cup filled with ice, followed by 1/2 cup of sparkling water. I like a 1:1 ratio of the sour melon base to sparkling water, but feel free to play around with the ratio depending on how strong you prefer it.
And that’s it for this sour melon mocktail recipe!! If you’re looking for more mocktail recipes, highly recommend trying my midnight tart cherry mocktail (it’s the perfect little NA nightcap) or this fun summer orange spritz.
