By now we’re all familiar with the concept of a capsule wardrobe. So, I thought I’d introduce you to my version of a capsule pantry.
I love cooking with a few staple ingredients; the majority of my recipes are centered around basic ingredients. So I thought I’d share a comprehensive list of my pantry staples (30 to be exact) that I more or less use every single week to make my oatmeal bowls, salads, pasta dishes, etc.
Additionally, as a girlie who strongly believes that quality ingredients matter, I’ve included brands I love, just in case you’re curious!!
So let’s get into my pantry staples!!
Baking Essentials
- Spelt flour: It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of One Degree Organics, in particular, I love their sprouted spelt flour. So far, I’ve only seen it in-store at Sprouts, but they also sell through Amazon as well.
- All-purpose flour: Bob’s Red Mill has always been my go-to for most grains (spelt flour being the exception).
- Cocoa powder: I know this is probably shocking, but Whole Foods 365 cocoa powder is amazing – our whole family loves it!
- Coconut sugar
- Honey: Ideally, I prefer to buy local honey, but Local Hive honey is great as well.
- Vanilla bean paste: Simply Organics has amazing (and affordable) organic vanilla bean paste which is my favorite. Nielsen Massey is my top choice, but it is very pricey.
- Dates: My favorite Medjool date brands are Rancho Meladuco (which I’ve yet to see in-store) and Coachella’s Best which Whole Foods carries.
Grains, Cereals, & Pastas
- Quinoa
- White rice
- Bulgur wheat
- Oats: I like keeping regular rolled oats and protein oats (both from Bob’s Red Mill) on hand for overnight oats, granola, etc.
- Rice cereal: From none other than One Degree Organics – I usually stock up on both their plain rice cereal and cacao rice cereal to make rice krispy treats.
- Popcorn
- Coconut shreds
- Cacao nibs: Navitas’ unsweetened cacao nibs are my favorite.
- Pasta: It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Seggiano products, especially their pastas. They slow-dry their pasta at low temperatures which helps preserve the flavor and quality of the wheat.
Legumes, Nuts, & Seeds
- Butter beans: Highly recommend Strianese canned butter beans aka fagioli bianchi di Spagna; they taste amazing!
- Garbanzo beans
- Green lentils
- Black lentils
- Nuts: I stock up on nuts (cashews, almonds, and Brazil nuts) from Costco as they’re the most affordable there.
- Hemp seeds
Jarred & Canned Goods
- Almond butter: I’ve tried so many different almond butter brands, and the best one (besides making it at home obviously) is Costco’s Kirkland organic almond butter. It tastes amazing, there’s just one ingredient, and it’s such a good price.
- Sunflower butter: SunButter’s organic sunflower butter is my go-to, I’ve yet to find a better-tasting sunflower butter.
- Tahini: If I’m planning on making a sauce where tahini is the star ingredient, Soom is my go-to brand.
- Tomato paste
- Green olives
Oils & Sauces
- Extra virgin olive oil: I tend to switch between three brands; California Olive Ranch, Brightland, and Lucini. Fun fact, California Olive Ranch and Lucini are actually under the same mother brand + they’re local to me (their farm is in Northern California).
- Basil pesto: Seggiano is my go-to brand for all things pasta and pesto.
