Description
These healthy homemade dog treats are made with pumpkin, peanut butter, and oat flour, for a perfectly soft but snappy treat that your dog will love!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- ½ cup peanut butter
- 1 egg
- 2 ½ cups oat flour
Instructions
- Begin by preheating the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Add the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, and egg into a large mixing bowl. Whisk together well; it should be pale orange and thick and fluffy.
- Dump in the oat flour and mix as much as you can with a rubber spatula. Dump the dough out onto a clean counter or board and knead until the flour is fully incorporated.
- Roll the dough out using a rolling pin until ¼” thick. Keep in mind that these treats will not rise when they bake, so whatever thickness you roll them out to, will be the same thickness once they’re done baking. Use a dog bone cookie cutter to cut out dog bones in the dough. Place the treats on the prepared baking sheet. Ball the remaining dough together, roll it out, and repeat the process of cutting out the treats until no more dough is left.
- Bake the treats in the oven for 20 minutes, or until they’re just golden brown on the edges.
- Let cool completely before transferring to a glass tupperware. Store the treats in the fridge for up to one week.
Notes
Keep in mind that the dough should be smooth and pliable and not sticky. So if needed, add an extra 3-4 tbsp of oat flour and knead it into the dough until it’s the right texture.
